Internships

Are you interested in learning new skills? Do you want to make a difference in your community?  The NCM internship program is a job opportunity that includes learning new skills, workshops, and on-the-job-learning. The requirements for these internships are:

  • Must be 14 years & older

  • Must live in Nevada County

  • Must be able to work 6-18 hours per week

  • Must be willing to give a 9-12 month commitment

  • Summer internships require a 6 week commitment and must have prior basic video editing skills

  • Individuals seeking an internship for Video Journalism/Filmmaking/Storytelling must have transportation and some basic prior production or post-production knowledge. Some of the projects are not in the studio.

  • All Interns perform a variety of operational tasks around the facility (cleaning, office work, etc.)

  • Interns learn through the assignment of a variety of on-the-job pre-designed NCM projects

  • Interns are given additional opportunities for work to expand their learning experience

  • The NCM internship is a fast paced program with tight turn-arounds. We do build in time for learning, but interns are required to meet the expectations to deliver quality content to the community in a timely manner

  • Interns must be able to lift 40lbs, operate production equipment for up to 2 hours, work on their own as well as part of a team, take direction, communicate with others, and have a desire to learn

  • Interns work in a very structured environment in order to deliver the needed content to the community

  • NCM does offer additional “passion” projects to interns, but they are not the priority

  • Individuals seeking employment must go through a two month internship

  • Internships are unpaid (unless through another programs)

  • All candidates go through an interview and evaluation process

  • NCM does its best to match an interns assignments up with their passion but this is NOT guaranteed
