Are you interested in learning new skills? Are you creative? Are you a people person? Do you want to make a difference in your community?  

NCM has several types of internships one can apply for. They are Music & Audio, Storytelling & Journalism, Media & TV, and Prop & Set Building (Artisan). Our internships include projects, workshops, hands-on learning, and a way to learn new skills. The requirements for these internships are:

  • You must be 14 years & older

  • Must be able to work 6-12 hours per week

  • Must be willing to give a 9-12 month commitment

  • Must live in Nevada County

  • All candidates go through an interview and evaluation process

  • NCM interns also perform a variety of tasks around the facility

  • Interns learn through a variety of hands-on pre-designed projects

  • Interns are given additional opportunities for work to expand their learning experience

  • Interns can attend all workshops at no charge. They also receive a significant discount on the Filmmaking Certification Courses if they choose to learn beyond the basic internship teachings

  • Interns must be able to lift 40lbs, operate equipment for up to 2 hours, work on their own as well as part of a team, take direction, communicate with others, and have a desire to learn. Individuals who require one-one-one help or heavy supervision can apply to our shadow program.

  • Individuals seeking employment must go through a three month internship

  • Internships are unpaid (unless through another program)

We do also offer Summer or Senior Project Internships

This internship is just like our regular internship program, except it is condensed into a few months and requires individuals to have some video, media, or journalism skills prior to entry. This is a great program for those wishing to improve their skills or to get a head start for our regular internships. Individuals looking to do a senior project are encouraged to contact us early in the school year.

  • For ages 14 & older

  • 8-16 hours per week

  • Minimum 6 week commitment

  • This is an unpaid internship

  • There is no fee for this program

  • The summer program because it is condensed is only available to those who have some prior experience

  • NCM interns perform a variety of tasks around the facility, as well as receiving training to work on specific projects

  • Interns learn a variety of skills through a variety of hands-on pre-designed projects

  • Interns may be given additional opportunities for work to improve their learning experience

  • Interns can attend workshops and meetups at no charge. They will receive a significant discount on the Filmmaking Certification Courses if they choose to learn beyond the basic internship teachings

  • Interns must be able to lift 40lbs, operate cameras for up to 2 hours, work on their own as well as part of a team, take direction, communicate with others, and have a desire to learn. Individuals who require one-one-one help or heavy supervision can apply to our modified program

Shadow Program

This program builds on our internship model but as a one-on-one training and specilized projects model. This program is for individuals with disabilities, or individuals who could benefit from the one-on-one attention. It is also great for individuals who are seeking to learn specific items. It does not require individuals to have prior media skills. This is a great program for those wishing to learn new skills or advance current ones.

  • For ages 11 & older

  • This is a fee based program - $65 per hour

  • Days & times are pre-determined

  • Our staff works with participants on a variety of media projects
