Meets weekly on Tuesdays from June 16 through July 28 (no meeting on July 7). Across six focused sessions, students will build and refine a complete audition package featuring one polished monologue and two contrasting songs. Each workshop combines performance coaching, audition technique, confidence-building strategies, and practical rehearsal tools designed to reduce stress and improve consistency in the audition room. Students will explore material selection, acting through song, cold reads, slating, presence, and callback skills while receiving individualized feedback and weekly performance opportunities. By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with stronger material, clearer technique, and the confidence to walk into auditions callback-ready.

Perform for the Camera
Step into the world of screen acting in this beginning hands-on workshop where participants develop acting skills for scripted film projects. Through scene work, character development, improvisation, and various exercises, you’ll explore the techniques actors use to create authentic performances for the screen.

This program allows you to control and upload your content in advance for review and distribution on the NCM Public Access Channel. This fee is ONLY FOR series contributors who want dedicated time slots. Programs must be less that 29:45 or 59:45, depending on what your series contract states. Content MUST be uploaded 4 weeks in advance. NCM reserves the right to reject content that does not meet the public access guidelines, your shows specific contract requirements, or that does not meet audio or visual technical requirements.

Do you have a need for a cool intimate location for a concert or performance? If so, NCM may be a perfect option
NCM makes it easy to step into a venue that not only provides the stage & lighting, we can even provide some of the audio needs if desired. We can also provide a way to capture and or stream your performance easily and economically
Our intimate space has a maximum attendance of 100. We offer a variety of seating options.
Our stage is small and can support up to 6 musicians, or several indivduals for a variety of performances
Our stage is NOT suitable for dance routines
You can book the space and provide your own audio equipment & engineer or use ours (for an additional fee)
You can even have your performance recorded and streamed (both video & audio) as a live edited program (additional fee)
Our rate for facility use is by the hour (from setup to teardown)
Use of the facility has a 2hr minimum

Want to sell tickets - No problem. Performers handle their ticket sales and check-in
The contracted entity is financially responsible for covering the NCM costs and any damages to the premises, as well as outside licensing fees (if any)

If you are looking to sell alcohol at your event, NCM can aid in the facilitation of the ABC License
NCM retains the right for refusal

Are you in need of a place to hold a meeting, an event, or create a project? NCM may be the perfect option for you. Check out the details
Studio A
This studio is perfect for meetings, screenings, events, workshops, and or production. Renters can charge admission for their events but must handle all ticketing.
For meetings: it is equipped with a stage, fixed lighting, seating for up to 100, tables, several large screens, projectors, and a PA System with wireless mics and additional hardwired mic options. NCM will help you get the A/V and your event up and running. NCM will set up the chairs and or tables, you will be responsible for putting them away if needed. You will be responsible for cleaning up the space.
For production: it is equipped with a greenscreen and fixed lighting for DIY use. The renter must bring their own production gear. If you wish to collaborate with NCM on a project, give us a shout.
$25hr - Supporter rate during business hours (M-Th)

$125 - Clean-up fee for events with food services (fee covers linen laundering, studio clean-up, and trash removal)

Studio B
Studio B is equipped with a greenscreen, 4K camera, a monitor (if you want to connect a laptop for a teleprompter), fixed lighting, and several audio options (including a multi channel mixer/recorder). This studio is best used with another person running the equipment to ensure you are getting the best product possible. Studio B can be used for video and audio projects. Equipment in this studio can not be moved. Use is very specific.
$35hr - Episodic shared content for NCM distribution. Use during business hours. Content must be community based information. The project must be approved prior to qualifying for this price point. A contract must be in place prior to use. No future bookings until previous content is delivered. Content must follow compliant content guidelines. NCM distributes content to YouTube, cable, and other internet based sites.
$75hr - No episodic or content shared with NCM. Use can be during or after business hours. Content can be community, commercial or private.

Have you ever dreamed of having your own YouTube show or Podcast? If so, NCM can help you do just that. This program makes it easy. Here is what you get.
For a low cost, NCM will help you create 12 episodes of either a multi-camera video show, two camera tutorial series, or a podcast
You will receive one consultation hour to help with creation details
Twelve pre-recorded shows that will be used in the NCM distribution, as well as your own use
Shows must be 30 minutes or less
This program is for a maximum of up to two people (host & guest, two hosts, or a single person demonstrating)
Recording sessions must be done on Tuesdays or Wednesdays between 10-6. NCM will work with you to create a recording schedule once purchased
Sessions come with NCM staff to operate all equipment, graphics and elements package, an editor for touch ups, and coaching
Subject matter must not be tied to political parties, can not contain any material that is libelous, slanderous, or defamatory, that is an unlawful invasion of privacy, or that violates state or federal copyright laws. Content involving community health and safety must include guests from the appropriate local public fields. These must not contain violence or nudity. Opinions that are of a controversy nature MUST contain the proper messaging
This program MUST be included in the NCM distribution
This program is open to all ages. Individuals under 14 must be accompanied by an adult or sibling 14 or over.

The Nevada County Media (NCM) Vocational Training Program is a year-long program designed to prepare aspiring media professionals for careers in the digital media industry through structured, hands-on learning and real-world production experience.
Participants choose one of four specialized career pathways based on their interests and professional goals:
Filmmaking
Video Journalism
Livestream Production
Business Video Production
The program allows for multiple entry points throughout the year, creating ongoing opportunities for youth and adults to develop marketable skills. The program combines classroom instruction with practical application, ensuring participants build both technical expertise and professional workplace habits. Throughout the year, participants receive:
Weekly hands-on instructor-led training sessions and constructive critiques and portfolio reviews
One-on-one assessment & help
Individual coaching and skill assessments
Progressive assignments both in the NCM studio and in the field that build technical and creative competencies
Access to equipment and studio facilities for both on-site and approved field productions
Opportunities to collaborate on real-world media projects serving nonprofit organizations, local governments, businesses, and community initiatives
Each learning pathway follows a structured curriculum that moves participants from foundational skills to advanced production techniques while emphasizing communication, collaboration, critical thinking, project management, and client-focused production.
To successfully complete the program, participants must demonstrate competency by passing both a written knowledge assessment and a comprehensive final production project that reflects industry standards.
Graduates who successfully meet program requirements are offered a paid, part-time internship with Nevada County Media, where they can work alongside experienced media professionals on active productions. This internship provides meaningful workplace experience, strengthens professional portfolios, develops industry references, and helps participants transition into employment, freelance opportunities, higher education, or entrepreneurship within the media and communications fields.
Through this combination of structured instruction, practical experience, professional mentorship, and paid employment, the NCM Vocational Training Program creates a clear pathway from education to career while expanding access to high-quality media workforce opportunities in a rural community.
Expected Outcomes
Program participants will:
Develop industry-standard technical and creative media production skills.
Build a professional portfolio demonstrating competency in their chosen pathway.
Gain experience working in collaborative production environments.
Complete a capstone project meeting professional production standards.
Receive individualized mentoring and career guidance.
Transition into a paid internship providing authentic workplace experience.
Increase readiness for employment, freelance work, post-secondary education, or entrepreneurial ventures within the media industry.
This IS NOT a free program. The program is broken down into three sessions (Jan-April), (May-June), (Sept - Dec) at a cost of $2,150 per session, which allows individuals to jump into the program at different times. Payment is required at the start of each session. Individuals must sucessfully complete three sessions, pass a written test, and submit a finished final project to qualify to be hired by Nevada County Media.
