Nevada County Media Offers Film School for Aspiring Storytellers and Filmmakers

Nevada County Media (NCM) is proud to officially launch its Film School, designed for individuals of all ages who want to learn the full process of scripted filmmaking — from story development to final edit — both behind and in front of the camera. NCM’s Film School is ideal for anyone who wants to understand not just how films are made, but how stories are told through camera, performance, and editing. The program does not stop with the behind the camera skills. It includes a hands-on way to learn or improve you on screen acting skills.

What Participants Will Learn

Film School participants will gain experience in every stage of scripted filmmaking, including:

  • Developing story ideas and scripts

  • Table readings and script breakdowns

  • Shot list creation and scene planning

  • Deconstructing video to understand storytelling techniques

  • Learning how to use equipment and understand crew positions

  • Monthly scripted acting practice and on-camera recorded performances

  • Working on a film crew

  • Video editing and post-production

  • And much more

Whether someone dreams of being a director, editor, actor, cinematographer, or simply wants to understand how movies are made, NCM’s Film School provides a supportive environment to explore every role and build confidence through hands-on practice.

This hands-on Film School experience is included with NCM’s All Access Academy Subscription, currently on sale for $100 for a full year which includes unlimited access to workshops, learning materials, Q&A sessions, and hands-on activities across multiple creative disciplines.

Nevada County Media’s Film School is part of NCM’s broader mission to strengthen local voices, provide real-world media experience, and create pathways into creative careers and community storytelling.
