Internships at NCM

To say we have grown over the past 8 years is an understatment. 8 years ago with $300 in the bank, no members, no programs, no interns, etc. we are happy to say things are now looking bright for community media. We have programs, projects, and a variety of interns.

To breathe new life into a failing organization that not only gives individuals a sense of purpose and working on things bigger than themselves BUT to provide a place to belong. That was the goal 8 years ago when I stepped through the doors of NCTV. We took the good things NCTV brought to the table, mixed in a bit of inginuity and out of the box thinking, sprinkled on some love and hard work......and now the community has an amazing "community media" infrastructure. Next step....grow our board, our partnerships, and our projects.

Now let’s talk about interns!

We started bringing on interns 8 years ago and have evolved this program into something absolutley amazing. Today, we have four very specific internship programs that we run year round. They are a Music & Audio program that is on Mondays. A Storytelling & Journalism internship on Tuesdays. A Media & TV one on Wednesdays, And a Prop & Set Building program on Thursdays.

Each program has specific requirements and a focus but all include a variety of workshops, classes, and projects. The goal is to provide as much hands-on guidence for specific projects as we can to help interns learn at their pace, while also creating product that the community could consume. We don’t do this alone. We have some amazing industry professionals who lend a hand mentoring these groups. I mean who wouldn’t love to have an Oscar, Emmy, or Grammy award winner as a mentor. In our programs, we do!

These are folks who bring different real world experience to the table. Most of them have bodies of work you would know. All of them love contributing their knowledge to help others. We are fortunate to be in a place that this exists.

Internships are open to anyone 14 and over (yes, we have older interns) and again, there are some specific requirements for some of these but they are designed to give our community a place to learn and belong. I highly encourgae you to check them out.

Visit our Internship page for all the details.

While you are browsing, check out our classes and workshops that are open to anyone in the community.
