NCM offers something for everyone. From audio, to video, to film, to performance to producing & writing!

General Workshops & Classes

Our group classes & workshops are open to all in the community and are a great way to learn new skills at an affordable rate. Check pricing on each workshop. If you prefer one-on-one sessions, our rate is $75 per hour (discount if you book a 6 month contract with us).

Registration is required to participate in our classes & workshops. No drop-ins please (unless noted otherwise). Payment will be collected upon arrival.   • Certification Class - NCM offers a certification class for those who wish to use studio B for DIY creation. Certification is required prior to use. NCM offers a free certification (see calendar). Other times are avaialble at a fee or $25. Registration is not required. Late arrivals are not permitted to attend.

  • Voice-Over Acting Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop for people just starting out. We will be teaching a variety of techniques for narrative and commercial voice-overs. The workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Mechanics of Podcasting Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching the mechanics of “how to do a podcast”. It will include both the technical and creative sides of podcasting. The workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Storytelling Audio Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be exploring storytelling through audio. This takes voice-acting to another level with the use of voices and characters, creating a fun one hour, sometimes improv experience. The workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Cell Phone Videography Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques using your cell phone for film and video projects. You MUST have a cell phone to participate. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Presenting to the Camera Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques for presenting information directly to the camera. Workshop size is limited. From this workshop people MAY be invited to become part of the camera-ready talent pool at NCM. Cost - $15

  • Scripted Acting Workshop - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques for acting on camera. Workshop size is limited. This workshop may include you acting in scenes with others. Cost - $15

  • Using Video to Tell Your Story - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques for telling your story. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • How To Do An On-Camera Interview - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching a variety of techniques for doing interviews on camera. This workshop focuses on both the interviewer and interviewee role. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Intro to Animated Logos - This 1 hour workshop will be teaching a variety of techniques for doing animated logosfrom scanned or digitally created images. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Understanding YouTube - This 1 hour workshop is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching how to manuever YouTube as both a viewer and creating a channel. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Digitizing Your Artwork & More - This 1 hour workshop will walk you through techniques of digitizing your artwork, as well as other items. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $15

  • Summertime Greenscreen Fun - This 2 hour fun workshop is for all ages. It is a hands-on workshop that will be teaching how to create affects using a greenscreen. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $30

  • Summertime Zine Fun - This 2 hour fun workshop is for all ages. It is a hands-on workshop that teaches how to create a zine. Materials Supplied. Workshop size is limited. Cost - $30

Filmmaking Certification Courses, Workshops, Meetups & Events

If you are looking for an accelerated Filmmaking program, this is the program for you. This program is designed to help you become an amazing filmmaker, not just give you a completion certificate. Each course consists of topics that are carefully designed to teach you all the skills quickly. We take you right to year two or three of traditional film school right from the start, without jeopardizing the fundamental foundation needed.

Each multi-week session includes a combination of lectures, hands-on workshops, and assignments that cover both technical and creative. At the end of each session participants will need to pass a test and turn in a project to receive their certificate. Sessions can be repeated if participants feel they need more work in a particular area.

Each course includes a two hour weekly session (lecture or workshop), all the needed material, weekly advisor help, assignments, and a final test and project. Certification is not based on attendance or assignments. It is based on the final test and project. NCM can provide gear needed to acheive your assigments or final project. Editing rooms are also available on certain days. This program has three levels (see below).

Courses are taught by a variety of individuals who come from all aspects of the filmmaking industry. They may also include individuals who have completed film school or certificate programs. This is designed to be a fast moving hands-on program.

Filmmaking Fundamentals Course (7 weeks) May 5 through June 23 - Mondays 4-6pm Cost -$400 (50% Discount for NCM Interns/Volunteers)

This course covers the fundamentals of filmmaking. All participants wishing to take our filmmaking program MUST start with this course. This fundementals course is only offered twice a year. The course covers workflow, positions, basic editing, camera essentials, composition, camera movement, lighting, audio, script, storyboarding, shotlists, slate, script supervision, and file management. This course will cover some topics useful for video work (such as video journalism) but it does focus on scripted filmmaking. Contact us below to start the registeration process
