This seven-part series was designed to be a thought provoking discussion, which is exactly what we will be doing. The goal of this series is to inspire people to become informed and politically involved in decision making that effects our communities and our country. The series offers an opportunity for discussion between Americans with differing views.
This series was created by local award winning filmmaker Catherine Busch. This series runs May 1st through June 12th 11:30-1:00. This will be free to attend. May 22nd The Return Home - The bittersweet return of the Japanese American families, at the end of 1945, was back to what had previously been called “the exclusion area.”
May 29th People Who Helped - Americans of all ages, races, ethnic backgrounds, and religious affiliations who responded to the needs of their Japanese American neighbors who were treated so unjustly and illegally by the US government.
June 5th Racism & Redress - the ever-present dilemma of racial exclusion in our country. The Civil Rights movement was to become the catalyst for the work on redress and monetary reparation to former Japanese internees.
June 12th Could this Happen Again - The framers challenge, when they created our country’s constitution, was for the citizens of our country to continue the work of the constitution by constantly moving toward a more just and perfect union.
